The annual Glitterball event, a dazzling evening of celebration in support of the Rosie May Foundation, took place on Sunday 24th of March, at the stunning Kelham Hall in Newark. The event brought together supporters, sponsors, and advocates of the foundation’s mission to empower children and young people in Sri Lanka.
The Glitterball, known for its glamorous ambience and charitable spirit, attracted attendees from across the region who gathered to enjoy a night filled with performances, a raffle, and most importantly, to contribute towards the foundation’s vital initiatives. Guests were treated to a spectacular evening featuring the strictly performances, judged by our 4 ballroom professionals, and an auction featuring a 7kg Easter egg generously donated by a local business. A huge thanks to Mary Kirsten and her team of mentors who generously provided our 8 couples with 10 weeks of dance lessons. Their dedication and expertise helped us achieve an ever-increasing total, now standing just shy of £37k.
Founded in memory of Rose May, a young girl tragically taken from her family at the age of 10, the Rosie May Foundation has been dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children and communities in Sri Lanka. Through various programs focusing on education, vocational training, and women’s empowerment, the foundation has made significant strides in providing opportunities and creating sustainable change in these regions.
“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and generosity at this year’s Glitterball event,” said Mary Storrie, Founder and CEO of the Rosie May Foundation. “Rosie May was a passionate and talented dancer, age 10, which made this evening so very special for us. The money raised will give those in need a chance of a future they deserve. A sincere thank you to our judge and volunteers, and every one of our audience, for the fantastic support for the event.”
The success of the Glitterball event underscores the commitment of the community towards creating a brighter future for children in need. The Rosie May Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to all sponsors, donors, volunteers, and attendees who helped make the evening such a huge success.
