Another warm and sunny day here in Sri Lanka and there is no better way to spend it than learning how to cook like a Sri Lankan local. Whist the process was long and sweaty the outcome sure was worth it. Coconut is Sri Lanka’s go to ingredient for just about everything. When we think peeling a potato is tedious try scraping out a coconut down to the shell.
Unlike cooking back home everything we used here was sourced locally, with many of the ingredients coming from the Project Hope garden which is maintained by the Project Hope ladies who also showed us how to cook. 3 dishes were created in total using a very basic hob and clay pots which is a tradition in Sri Lanka. Carrots were peeled using a sharp knife and all the vegetables diced.
Try it yourself, it sure was a winner, winner chicken dinner! But remember be sure to use your bare hands to eat!
