Rosie May’s Legacy

Rosie May’s mantra at 10 years of age was ‘girl power’. How very fitting her living legacy is and how very proud she must be.

As we grow from our roots of a family charity into an international children’s charity, we will never forget Rosie May. She is and always will be our complete inspiration.

A huge THANK YOU to the amazing festive team at Handelsbanken, West Bridgford, who donned their best Christmas woollies and raised a fantastic £167.28 for our Give the Gift of Education Christmas Campaign! 🎄 With their generous support, we can now provide 7 rucksacks for children in Sri Lanka.

Each rucksack contains:
🎒 A sturdy school bag
✏️ Essential school supplies like notebooks, pencils, and crayons
👟 A pair of school shoes
📚 Tools that break down barriers to education for children from low-income families

These rucksacks are so much more than a gift—they’re a gateway to learning, opportunities, and hope for a brighter future. 🌟

A special thanks to the team at Handelsbanken, especially during what we know is a very busy time for businesses. Your kindness and community spirit mean the world to us and the children you’re helping.

To everyone else, there’s still time to join in and Give the Gift of Education this Christmas. Let’s make a difference together: www.justgiving.com/campaign/backtoschoolrucksackchristmas

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Asian Tsunami we have partnered with School in a Bag to help us give the gift of education this Christmas 🎅 Read about this incredible charity
here ⬇️🎄🇱🇰SCHOOLBAGS TO SRI LANKA 🎄🇱🇰
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Indian Ocean Tsunami, this year’s Christmas campaign will fund SchoolBags in Sri Lanka, a country and coastline severely affected by the tsunami in 2004. In April 2006, working with Project Galle, Piers Simon Appeal funding rebuilt the Butterfly Bridge, nine houses and regenerated the Green Market in Galle, on the southern tip of Sri Lanka.

School in a Bag have funded SchoolBags in Sri Lanka and for this project, will work in collaboration with the Rosie May Foundation - an international children’s charity founded in memory of Rosie May in 2003 whose work was initiated by the tsunami following a family holiday in the Maldives in December 2004.

The SchoolBags and their contents will be sourced in Sri Lanka. Mary, from The Rosie May Foundation says: 'The SchoolBags will be given to children aged 3-16 who attend the free afterschool classes at Project Hope and the Rosie May Pre School which is supported by the Rosie May Foundation to give children from low income families a brighter future. All children go to local schools and would struggle to attend without these provisions'.

You can fund your SchoolBag or gift one in a loved one’s name to help transform these girls’ lives right now!
